Roberta Bonazzi founded the European Foundation for Democracy (EFD) in 2005 and has guided its growth for over a decade. Her expertise focuses on violent radicalisation, foreign relations, democratic reform and extremism. She has directed successful pan-European campaigns on these and related issues. In recent months, she has been involved in a global campaign to raise awareness of how extremist organisations exploit social media to recruit and radicalise vulnerable people. Bonazzi also heads the Europe office of the Counter Extremism Project (CEP), a non-profit international policy organisation of renowned former world leaders and diplomats formed to combat the growing threat from extremist ideologies.
